Synthetic Aperture Radar Systems

Synthetic aperture radar systems take advantage of the propagation characteristics of radar signals and the complex information processing capability of modern digital electronics to provide high resolution imagery. SAR complements photographic and other optical imaging capabilities (that are limited by settings such as the time of day and atmospheric conditions) because of the unique responses of terrain and cultural targets to radar frequencies.

SRC develops components, technologies, and processing capabilities applicable to SAR, such as radar, antennas, electronics, digital signal and data processing algorithms. We are applying these technologies to imaging radars to address the needs of today’s airborne platforms. Our expertise in electromagnetics, electronics, high-speed signal processing, high performance computing and hardware design, development, and realization, position us as major contributors to real-time imaging, processing algorithms, and innovative applications for SAR.
