Lincoln, UK – SRC UK, Ltd. ("SRC UK" or "Company") announced that it has been awarded a contract worth £74M from the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence to supply the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery with Gryphon R1430 radar systems. This award is part of the SERPENS British Army programme replacing ageing legacy systems with a next-generation weapon locating radar.
The Gryphon R1430 delivers rapidly deployable sensing, detection, and geolocation capabilities to provide a critical tactical advantage on the battlefield. Designed to help identify and locate threats rapidly and accurately, the system enables faster, more effective responses to emerging threats. Its software-configurable design and open architecture support seamless integration, flexibility, and adaptability to meet evolving operational requirements.
The Gryphon R1430 radar will be delivered to the 5th Regiment Royal Artillery in both vehicle-mounted and dismounted configurations, providing operational flexibility across a range of deployment scenarios. Featuring modern Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology, the radar offers a significantly smaller footprint than previous generations of counter-fire radar systems. Its lower power consumption and solid-state design, with no moving parts, also enhances reliability and reduces the risk of mechanical failure, supporting dependable performance in demanding operational environments.
