SRC Taps Former Navy and Army Leaders to Drive Radar and Counter-UAS Growth

Frankie Lapoint and Rob Mitchell bring operational, acquisition and business development experience to SRC's expanding radar and counter-UAS business

Syracuse, NY – SRC, Inc., a global, not-for-profit, defense research and development company, today announced the appointment of Frankie Lapoint and Rob Mitchell as business development directors. Lapoint, a former Navy officer with experience in defense acquisition, and Mitchell, a longtime Army leader and defense business development executive, will focus on expanding SRC's advanced radar and counter-unmanned aircraft systems (CUAS) business.

As SRC invests in advanced radar and counter-UAS technologies, Lapoint and Mitchell will help the company anticipate customer requirements and navigate the acquisition paths that bring new capabilities into use. Lapoint’s experience spans Navy operations and acquisition; Mitchell has led military teams and built government contracts and strategic partnerships. Together, they bring insight from both the operational and business sides of defense programs.

In their new roles, they will work with SRC's engineering and program teams to identify opportunities, shape capture strategies and incorporate customer needs into technology development. They will also strengthen relationships across the defense acquisition community and support the transition of SRC technologies into programs of record.

"Frankie and Rob understand the defense customer from different sides of the mission, and that experience will help us identify where SRC's technologies can address emerging operational needs," said Kevin Hair, president and CEO of SRC. "Their backgrounds will help us build stronger customer relationships and move promising radar and counter-UAS capabilities toward fielded programs."

Lapoint joins SRC after serving as a senior engagement and program management consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, where she supported Navy acquisition programs and advised senior stakeholders on program execution, technical integration and portfolio management. She previously served as a U.S. naval officer, including as an action officer and executive assistant within the Air Warfare Directorate at the Pentagon and as a naval flight officer aboard the P-8A Poseidon. Her experience includes work supporting a Navy budget portfolio exceeding $350 billion and operational leadership during more than 155 missions and 1,240 flight hours.

Mitchell brings more than 20 years of military leadership and experience in business development, government contracting and strategic partnerships. He previously served as director of business development and sales at Digital Fire Team. During his Army career, Mitchell served as a senior enlisted adviser with U.S. Army Southern Command and held leadership roles within Special Operations. His work included managing international training programs, government and military relationships and multimillion-dollar budgets.
