SRC Welcomes 2026 Community Internship Cohort; Surpasses 475 Student Placements Since 2013
Syracuse, NY – SRC Inc., a global, not-for-profit, defense research and development company, today announced the 2026 cohort of its Community Internship Program (CIP), which will place 14 students in paid summer internships with nonprofit organizations across communities served by SRC.
Since launching the program in 2013, SRC has placed 475 interns with nonprofit organizations and provided more than $2.1 million in paid labor support, helping community organizations expand their capacity while creating meaningful professional opportunities for students.

Jeffrey Ragonese, a 2025 Community Internship Program participant, spent the summer interning with ARISE Adaptive Design, supporting projects that advance accessible, community-built assistive equipment.
Originally developed in partnership with local United Way chapters and along with other philanthropic organizations, the Community Internship Program connects relatives of SRC employees with paid summer positions at nonprofits that often lack the resources to hire additional talent. The program creates lasting benefits for nonprofit organizations, students and the communities they serve.
"For more than a decade, the Community Internship Program has been one of the most meaningful ways SRC invests in the communities where our employees live and work," said Kevin Hair, president and CEO of SRC. "By supporting nonprofit organizations, creating opportunities for students and strengthening connections across our communities, the program reflects who we are as a not-for-profit organization and our commitment to making a difference beyond the work we do for our customers."
Through the program, nonprofit organizations gain additional support that helps them better serve community needs and advance their missions. Students receive hands-on experience in mission-driven organizations while earning income that can help support their educational goals. For SRC, the program strengthens longstanding partnerships with community organizations and provides a unique benefit for employees and their families. Over the past 13 years, the initiative has supported organizations focused on food security, youth development, education, workforce readiness, family services and community assistance, making it one of SRC's flagship community engagement programs.

Aidan Simms, a 2025 Community Internship Program participant, completed a summer internship with Book Buddies, a United Way of Central New York program that fosters early literacy in the community.
Of the 14 interns participating in the 2026 cohort, eight will serve nonprofit organizations in the Syracuse region, continuing SRC's longstanding commitment to supporting Central New York communities. Additional interns will serve organizations in Dayton, Ohio; Omaha, Nebraska; Portland, Maine; and San Antonio, Texas.
