SRC Rings in the Holidays with a Season of Giving

December 05, 2018

Syracuse, NY – SRC, Inc. is celebrating the holiday season with it’s annual Season of Giving. Over the next few weeks employees will join forces with various community organizations to support food and gift drives and volunteer events across the country. As part of SRC’s mission to help keep America and it’s allies safe and strong, these activities will ensure those in need in our communities enjoy a holiday meal, can provide gifts for their children, or to stay warm on a cold winter night.

“SRC is committed to supporting and strengthening our communities,” said Paul G. Tremont, president and CEO of SRC. “Every year our employees come together to plan the Season of Giving and each year they answer the call to make the holiday season brighter for thousands of families. I am honored and very proud to work with such caring, community-focused people.”

The SRC Season of Giving kicked off in November with a food and gift drive to help the Salvation Army provide for those less fortunate in the community. Throughout the month, SRC employees donated hundreds of pounds of food and gifts, and in December, they will volunteer hundreds of hours to serve others.

To help combat hunger in Syracuse, NY, where SRC is headquartered, employees will partner with the Food Bank of CNY and Tops Friendly Markets to support “Food for Families” on Friday, Dec. 14. Throughout the day, employees will volunteer at the Tops Market in North Syracuse (3803 Brewerton Road North Syracuse, NY 13212) to encourage shoppers to add a $5, $10 or $20 “Little Brown Bag of Hope” to their shopping cart. These bags are filled with healthy food staples that will provide nutritious meals to local families.

SRC is also joining the Salvation Army and the United Way of CNY at their annual Christmas Bureau Distribution. Employees will staff the last shift to help distribute food and toys to thousands of families. Last year’s distribution provided 8,761 gifts to 2,372 households and 5,739 children. The 2018 Christmas Bureau distribution day will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at the Oncenter in downtown Syracuse.

In addition to helping families in need, SRC employees make sure animals in local shelters have some holiday cheer, too. The company is holding a drive to provide food, toys, treats and other supplies to the animals at Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter in Jamesville and Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association in Canastota.

In regional offices around the country, employees are continuing the Season of Giving by adopting families in Arlington, VA; collecting gifts in Chantilly, VA; hosting a Toys for Tots drive in Charlottesville, VA; donating food to Operation Homefront and volunteering at Beds for Kids in Dayton, Ohio; supporting a food drive for the Rescue Mission and providing blankets for children in Rome, NY; hosting a canned goods drive for the Madonna Center and volunteering at Haven for Hope in San Antonio, TX.

SRC believes in engaging local resources to help build strong communities. We invite you to join us as we work together to make the holidays a little brighter for those in need. Get involved this Season of Giving by donating to your favorite charity or by looking for a volunteer opportunity in your community.
